Telegram’s TON blockchain eclipses Ethereum among daily users
Telegram’s Open Network (TON) has overtaken Ethereum in terms of daily active addresses, marking a notable shift in the cryptocurrency landscape.
Analytics firm Delphi Digital reports that TON’s daily active addresses consistently exceeded those of Ethereum throughout June, thanks to Telegram’s 900 million users.
TON’s increased network activity is attributed to strategic initiatives including the integration of stablecoin Tether (USDT) and the introduction of Notcoin, a tap-to-earn token that has attracted 35 million users in just five months.
Notcoin isn’t the only Telegram mini app to go viral. Most recently, Hamster Kombat announced that it had surpassed 100 million cumulative users.
While TON’s performance is remarkable, it’s critical to consider Ethereum’s ongoing transition to Layer 2 scaling solutions like Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism, which have reported 1.3 million daily active addresses on June 11 alone.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin supports these solutions as part of Ethereum’s scaling strategy, making direct comparisons to TON’s metrics difficult.
