Bitwise Files Modified Ethereum S-1 ETF After SEC Comments
Bitwise recently amended its S-1 registration form for a proposal Ethereum Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), following comments from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This update comes as Bitwise and other companies anticipate regulatory approval to list and market these products. Notably, the update reveals new investment details, including an initial investment of $2.5 million by an affiliated company, paving the way for further development.
Bitwise Plans Launch of $2.5 Million Ethereum ETF
The modified Document S-1 describes the first stages of financing the Bitwise Ethereum ETF. The company’s subsidiary, Bitwise Investment Manager, LLC, is set to purchase $2.5 million worth of shares, known as Seed Baskets, at a price of $25 per share, for a total of 100,000 actions. Additionally, Bitwise revealed that Pantera Capital Management LP has expressed interest in acquiring up to $100 million of stock. This interest highlights the potential demand for cryptocurrency-based ETFs, although it remains non-binding and subject to change depending on market conditions.
The road to launching Ethereum ETF involves complex regulatory compliance. Last month, the SEC approved Forms 19b-4 for eight Ethereum ETFs, marking a step forward in the approval process. However, these issuers, including Bitwise, must still have their S-1 filings declared effective before trading can begin.
Ethereum Price Falls Amid ETF Speculation
Analysts, including Bloomberg James Seyffart, have weighed in on the situation, suggesting that while the exact launch date for these ETF products remains uncertain, there is optimism that approvals could be granted before July 4.
Ethereum Price has seen some fluctuations, recently falling 1.53% to $3,471. Despite this decline, the market capitalization saw a slight increase of 0.28%, suggesting mixed investor sentiment. Additionally, a significant increase in trading volume of 16.68% indicates increased market activity, which could portend upcoming trends in investor behavior, especially in anticipation of new investment products like Ethereum ETF.
